Iditarod 2010

What is March in Alaska without heading to the start of the Iditarod? We were able to go as a family this year. After getting all bundled up, we headed downtown for the races!
It is so much fun to see sled after sled appear from down the street. It is also amazing how much snow they cart into downtown to ensure there is enough snow for the sleds. Thankfully this year it snowed the week before the race.

A great snapshot of the kids and their mama in their winter finest!
We ran into one of our pastor's from church and he took a picture of our family. (I'll have to see if that beautiful yellow rope can be removed.)
We walked around the corner to get a little closer to the race route. One of the racers threw a pair of booties to the kids. They were so excited to have a momento from the race. We could have stayed and watched the sleds pass by all day. The kids had a great front row space.
Eleanor and Matt had some fun playing peek-a-boo between sleds. She was pretending to be shy for the camera.
Father and daughter enjoying the races!
Finally, the real workers of the Iditarod. These dogs are amazing. They keep us coming back every year!
