Father and Son

Dennis (Matt's dad) was been up here for a week. During this time, the boys got to go fishing twice! Last Monday, they checked out the Russian River on the Kenai peninsula. They were were unable to bring any fish home.  Matt informed me that he did "snag" a red salmon, but could not keep it.  Snagging for you non-fisher types is when you catch the fish any place, but the mouth.  In Alaska, when you catch a fish it has to be hooked in its mouth if you want to keep it.

They did have an awesome time watching a grizzly bear catch salmon straight from the river. Matt said they were about 20 yards from the bear.  The bear is allowed to snag fish though and keep them.

Check out the red salmon around the bear. He's scoping out his next meal.
