Mommy had a craving for gingerbread one night last week. Nana and Papa sent the recipe. Grandma and Stephen made the gingerbread for mommy. It was truly a family effort.
Here is the recipe for my most favorite gingerbread:
½ cup butter or margarine 1/3 cup sugar
1 cup dark molasses ¾ cup hot water
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon 2¼ cups all purpose flour
½ cup butter or margarine 1/3 cup sugar
1 cup dark molasses ¾ cup hot water
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon 2¼ cups all purpose flour
Preheat oven to 325º.
Grease and flour an 8 or 9 inch square pan.
Beat butter and sugar until creamy.
Add egg and molasses. Blend well.
Add hot water and dry ingredients.
Beat for three minutes.
Pour batter into pan.
Bake for 50 minutes or until done in center.
