Making mommy proud

Stephen has recently said some things that have made me proud for many reasons:
1. His taste in food
2. My parenting skills
3. His honesty

When asked what his favorite restaurant, he will always reply "Shines." This is our local sushi restaurant. This is one cuisine both kids have grown up with. When Matt is home, we go about once every two weeks. Stephen can even order for himself. Octopus and tuna are favorites. Plus the miso soup and salad too. He now gets his own salad and eats it all.

Today, Eleanor had speech therapy early. So grandma and grandpa took Stephen out for breakfast. I mentioned a local place. Grandma asked if they could go to MacDonnell's (McDonalds for those who don't speak French :)!) That isn't someplace we have been in forever. (The place with the star is our current favorite in Alaksa.) I said sure, that is fine with me. Well, Stephen looked at me and asked, "What is McDonald's?" Be still my heart! My 3 1/2 year old doesn't know what the golden arches are. Fabulous! The cat is out of the bag and he knows there is a playground there too.

Tonight, we were talking about Eleanor's goals for speech. This week we are supposed to work on opposites such as in/out, front/back, up/down, top/bottom, etc. Well, he looked up and said, "In-and-Out is a restaurant." Funny, he doesn't know the arches, but knows where to get a great burger!
