Stephenism's

Stephen has recently come into his own. He is now at the "Why?" and "I can do it myself!" stages. It is definitely patience testing sometimes, but awesome to see the independence. Recently, Matt and I have had separate conversations with him that are definitely worth sharing.

While getting ready for bed, Stephen saw some motrin on the bathroom countertop.
Stephen: Sees the medicine. Gets a funny look on his face. "Daddy, my tummy hurts." Look around, "my ear hurts, my tummy hurts. I need medicine." All in a repetitive, sighing, whining tone. So cute! Our little hypochondriac.

We're making progress in the sharing department. Today he shared his baby carrot with Eleanor, tried to share his sippy cup the other day, and even offered to share Matt's hard caught halibut with Sylvia (our daycare provider.) In the car yesterday, Matt gave Stephen a snack. Stephen then shared with Matt when asked if he could have some of the snack.
Matt: Thank you!
No response.
Matt: What do you say when someone says thank you?
Stephen: Thank you.
Matt: When someone says thank you, you say your welcome.
Stephen: Thank you.
Matt: ???
Stephen: Thank you for sharing. You're a good sharer.

Another favorite is when he can hear us, but not see us: "Where you are?"
