Heat Wave, Part 2

The weather seems to invade conversation everywhere. We talk about it when it is bad, when it is good, or when it changes. We talk about it when we don't have anything to talk about. And we talk about it when the conversation is awkward and we want to change the topic.

Well, I feel like the blog has been consumed by the weather. Our lives have been, though. We stayed inside for over two weeks and then we are staying inside because it is raining and icy outside. We have had an 80 degree temperature change in Eagle River, AK from our cold snap to this week: -30 to 50. Usually 80 degrees means the difference between warm coats and gloves and mittens and shorts and tanks. Here is means heavy jacket to light jacket or no jacket at all. Fifty definitely feels like 80 after it has been that cold.

Most of the snow is melted, the streets and parking lots are skating rinks, and the winds are knocking trees down everywhere. In our two years plus up here, school has been delayed once. It was canceled three days this week due to the ice and wind. No fear of snow and cold up here, but ice and wind - watch out!

I will get out of my mid-winter funk and get some pictures posted later today. I get everyone caught up on Christmas and our fun activities in the past month.

It could have been worse! You could have been stuck in your house with an ice skating rink instead of a road running by your home (like me) :)

Thank you for visiting our website! May you have a blessed day.
