Spring Snow

After returning from California with the warm weather and blue skies, the weather here was beautiful. Three days before we returned home, there was an 8 inch snow. Our driveway was half snowy, but it quickly melted last week. Well, so much for fifty degree weather and sunny skies in Anchorage. Last friday morning we woke to melting snow with a forecast for an inch or two by the end of the day. Hah!

As you can see from above, it was 15-20 times that! Around nine in the morning, the pretty heavy snowflakes began. By early afternoon, Matt cleared our driveway of 4 inches of snow. Three hours later, we cleared 12 inches of snow. By the next morning, we cleared another 6 inches. That is right, 20 inches at our house. Officially in Anchorage it was 15 inches - a record snowfall. Largest snowfall since recording began after April 1st and third largest snowfall in a 24 hour period in history.

My little snow angel:

Matt and I have decided the last weekend of April is dedicated as snow weekend. Three of the largest snows we have ever experienced in our lives have been in the last weekend of April. It just reminds us to slow down prior to the summer and gives us time to spring clean.

We now look forward to sunny skies and nice weather. Time for fishing!
